Joanna Gleason (natural Joanne Halprin in June 2, 1950), is a Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canadian-born Jewish actress, who has been the successful character actor around film, televisiin & on stage. She starred on the Broadway theatre production of the musical Into the Woods for which she received the Tony Award as Best Actress within the Musical comedy (1988). Gleason likewise appeared when a mother of Dirk Diggler in the award winning film Boogie Nights. Inside 2005 she was nominated for an additional Tony Award for her performance in the musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
